Client Overview & Scope

This new, fully office-based role is for a technical professional—ideally an auto mechanic / electrician ready for leadership ; to oversee maintenance across NSW (Minto), Newcastle, and Albury. You will manage suppliers, evaluate vehicles, and optimize fleet reliability. Culture fit is paramount: we need a well-spoken, corporate-ready, proactive, tech-savvy problem solver.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet & Supplier Management:
- Manage the fleet maintenance program to maximize internal and external customer satisfaction while minimizing repair and admin costs.
- Actively manage the assigned region, taking full ownership of maintenance risk and conducting structured supplier performance meetings.
- Negotiate industry-leading arrangements with service providers and resolve maintenance disputes with mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Visit sites regularly to check in on jobs with suppliers, including quarterly travel to Melbourne and fortnightly visits to Albury and Newcastle.
Technical Oversight & Operations:
- Oversee the evaluation of vehicles returned from long-term lease arrangements and liaise with stakeholders to arrange required work.
- Ensure vehicle safety is maintained and never compromised by taking a proactive and preventative approach.
- Coordinate equipment services and vehicle de-hires while occasionally assisting with ad-hoc operational tasks.
Commercial Administration & Customer Engagement:
- Oversee and manage the approval of invoices relating to vehicle maintenance, ensuring prior approved expenditure limits are not exceeded.
- Continually monitor monthly, year-to-date, and annual expenditure of suppliers within your region of responsibility.
- Act as a key point of contact for customers to sort out maintenance queries promptly and keep downtime to an absolute minimum.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Proven background as a mechanic with experience managing or overseeing a maintenance workshop for trucks, trailers, and earthmoving equipment within large-scale fleets.
- Aptitude: Office-based technical knowledge is essential; while you won't be on the tools, your mechanical oversight is critical. A strong belief in learning new technology is required.
- Culture Fit: Well-spoken, corporate-ready, and highly proactive. Must thrive in a family-owned business environment and demonstrate a willingness to go above and beyond.
- Education: Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology are highly preferred.
Salary & Work Rights
- $110K - $120K + Super + $15K Car Allowance or Vehicle/Ute included in package.
